Awara had its first Turkish screenings at two venues in Istanbul: Sümer, a theater in Pera that typically showed Hollywood films, and Çemberlitaş, a theater in Şehzadebaşı associated with Turkish films. After the film became a breakout hit, ads expanded across additional Istanbul cinemas, touting record turnover and claiming 100,000 attendees in the first week, with another 100,000 turned away due to sellouts.
